Ericksonian Hypnosis and brief therapies

Individual coaching, hypnosis is a tool aimed at harmonizing the various contradictory tendencies of the personality. The psycho-energetic approach to hypnosis mobilizes the tools of brief therapies (ericksonian hypnosis, NLP, RITMO/EMDR, focusing, relaxation therapy…) and techniques of meditations and practices spiritual and energy of non-duality (tantra, Sufism…) from induction. It aims to put the topic in a State of presence called trance in which the expression of consciousness is refined in terms of sensitivity, power of learning, body control, performance memory, creativity, etc…

Modern hypnosis is the basis of change techniques the most deep, versatile and complete that we know to date. Its use in the context of the psycho-energy is a preferred technique because it allows to easily adapt to various requests which are made, while incorporating if necessary other processes. Hypnosis is a technique for accessing the deep part of the consciousness ("subconscious"), which specifically relates to energy of desire, to fully mobilize its potential for evolution. It acts on the learning mechanisms of consciousness in the broad sense. It is therefore particularly suited for work on the imagination, creativity, and representation.

Ericksonian hypnosis: the basis of brief therapies

Unlike traditional hypnosis, which is based on the injunction (which is akin to an order, is caricatured as the famous "sleep, I want it!"), ericksonian hypnosis induced progressively and non-directive, sometimes just in the thread of the conversation, an altered state of consciousness, guided by the voice of the therapist. The patient may freely direct its attention towards the specific purpose that it is fixed: coping with stress, exceed a phobia, lift sexual inhibitions… Supported by the enveloping words of the practitioner, the patient will dive into the deep layers of consciousness, to find new resources and allow the interior transformations necessary to operate.

Ericksonian hypnosis is based on the principle that an individual is part of a system (called systemic approach). Highlight a new perspective (operate a "cropping") one of the elements of the system, for example the perception or the representation that I have a situation, may be sufficient to cause a spontaneous change at several levels of the personality in a relatively short time. It is a therapy called "brief" in the sense where ten to twelve sessions (often less, three to four average) allow most of the time to achieve a surprising result. If desired, the subject may continue this practice of autonomously through so-called self-hypnosis sessions.

The existential approach to hypnosis increases the effectiveness of modern hypnosis focusing on the presence in the desire and working on the plan of the symbolic representations from the techniques and tools of Jungian Psychology (use of archetypes), Transpersonal approaches and the traditions of non-duality (tantra, Sufism, Buddhism,…).

Milton Erickson (1901-1980)

A non-directive approach centered on the subject

Modern hypnosis owes much to the practice of Milton Erickson, American psychiatrist who revolutionized his practice of hypnosis by a vision wide directive and non-oriented solution. According to him, there is a deep part of the consciousness that he called the unconscious who knows much more than our superficial part (the awareness of "self", so-called conscience ego or reflexive) and therefore has an extraordinary transformation of our representations potential when it mobilizes the in the sense of the subconscious desire. One speaks today of ericksonian hypnosis. It is still little known, in contrast to show hypnosis which it differs by many points (non-directivity, progressiveness,… the desires of the subject, the human-centred approach). The practice of hypnosis by Milton Erickson, whose impressive results have inspired thousands of professionals of the accompaniment and communication worldwide, continues to develop and to grow. If the ericksonian hypnosis is primarily a communication tool, the technique is based on an understanding of the mechanisms of consciousness. The study of ericksonian hypnosis has given birth to many approaches to, communication and accompaniment, such as NLP, the systemic or the solution-oriented therapy, so that today ' hui, major communication specialist, therapists, coaches and managers are using hypnosis to improve their efficiency.

Outside the field of therapy, hypnosis is also increasingly used in the coaching field, in the field of Medicine (hypnotic anesthesia, preparation for operations, action on chronic diseases…), in the world of education and communication…

What is the State of hypnosis?

The State of hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness characterized by a quality of particularly intense presence. This quality of presence, which joined in some ways that practitioners of various forms of meditation know, facilitates the learning process at all levels of consciousness. It is the State that we experience when we are immersed in an experience that touches us in particular, for example when we are absorbed by the movie we watch or the book we read, to the point that external reality to the narrative tends to dissolve or pass in the background. The work of a hypnosis practitioner is to help you recreate this State, deepen it and bring you to mobilise all resources of your consciousness to realize your wishes.

Why is it effective?

Many traditions have anticipated the results of the research in cognitive science to describe that part of us that we call "personality" or "ego" as a fragment separated and superficial of global consciousness. This ego part, which is the essence of what we call our identity could be described as the residual crystallization of our memories and experiences. Everyone was able to collect one day to the other limits the will to achieve what we identify as objectives. In the vast majority of cases, these are desires or fears from deep layers of consciousness that have limited or blocked our capacity. This part submerged of consciousness, that Freud and Jung were "unconscious" and psycho-energy we call 'Desire', supplies the greatest part of our thoughts, our representations, our emotional movements and our inner workings. It has a huge power of action on the real, but most of the time, we ignore that part of us and we rely on our willingness to take action. However, it is not always enough. The will becomes even impotent when it tries to go against our deep desires. By integrating this part more fundamental consciousness, the hypnotic trance state to establish a symbiosis, a communication which releases the underlying energy and paves the way for sustainable and deep transformational opportunities.

A scientific approach of consciousness

Hypnosis is studied by the scientific community for several decades, validated by thousands of studies around the world. Its effectiveness is recognized scientifically and the recent advances in neuroscience to better understand its workings. Contrary to conventional wisdom, hypnosis does not generate a loss of consciousness or control. We could say that on the contrary, the State of hypnosis is characterized by an increase of our quality awareness and our power of realization. Most of the altered States of consciousness described in energy and mystical traditions are actually manifestations of hypnotic States (for example, the yogi who can control the pace of their heartbeat, increase or decrease their body temperature, etc.).

Although the problems of each individual are different and specific, they resolve mostly in a few sessions. Change operate at a more fundamental level of consciousness which allows to ensure achievements and lasting change. This allows to act on everything we do not consciously change. Hypnosis has effects verified changes in behavior (stop smoking, eliminate compulsions like snacking, eliminate a phobia,…), abilities (learning faster, change reaction, find new solutions, feel good,…) but also the ideas and beliefs (find obvious that change is easy, forget the weight of the past, failures change the look on the world and oneself) , …).

Note that a session of hypnosis does not replace a consultation with a doctor. Benefits do override in no case to a medical procedure or medication requirements.

Conduct of a psycho-energy hypnosis session

During a hypnosis session, the subject is gradually immersed in an altered state of consciousness: he is always aware, but you forget the outside world to enter more deeply into her inner world, that of his subconscious mind. For most people, it is a State between wakefulness and dreams. Is given in hypnosis much more importance to the imagination as to the reason. Indeed, there is no need to understand why we do not achieve our objective where the 'why' is governed by the subconscious. Both apply directly to him for him to change.

When we are in the State of hypnosis, our subconscious mind becomes more receptive to suggestions, i.e. to requests that are made to the subconscious. In constructing a meeting with such suggestions, so let's realign the subconscious in the direction where he wants (no change can be made without the agreement of the conscious and the subconscious), become an ally and implement all the power of the spirit in order to achieve the objective that we have set.

Determination of objective

As a first step, we discuss the objectives of the meeting, incentives, how hypnosis can help… This Exchange usually lasts between 20 and 40 min, it is crucial to determine the underlying desires.

Placing under hypnosis

In a second step, the practitioner accompanies entry into the State of hypnosis. It is a state very pleasant relaxation and presence, similar to one we know when we go into reverie. During this step, the subject hears all, remaining aware and care control (the subject may stop the session at any time). Hypnosis induction phase lasts usually 5-10 minutes and then the practitioner continues accompaniment explaining how 'bring' some subconscious programs following expressed objectives and motivations. All this work is done in line with deep desires to ensure that changes are most profitable and settled in a sustainable manner and effortless to maintain.
